A hopeless bunch of scammers
Do not even CONsider taking your car here. You'll receive an initial quote that looks great and promises to turn the car round in 3-5 days. Cheap recovery, etc, etc. Once they've got your car, the quote will double and then you'll be asked to pay up front. They DON'T take credit cards but ask you to deposit the money in the MD's personal bank account so that work can continue. Thing is.. it NEVER does ! Your car will be left in a total mess with the engine stripped into thousands of pieces and then all piled in the boot before being left to rot. Do yourself a favour, pay a local garage (even if more expensive initially) to do the job.

My Rover was picked up some 10 weeks ago by Reconditioned engines .co.uk Have tried to phone all of their bogus numbers, tried E mails, nothing. Reported it as stolen to police. Still waiting for any sort of reply from anyone. Trading standards useless. I often wonder why I pay taxes.
Graham Yarwood - 18/01/2012
I'm sorry I didn't see these comments before handing over my car to this company (now trading as Reconditioned Engines). They have a very glossy website full of guarantees and promises but once they have your car they hold you to ransom and rip you. They are complete conmen. They said it would take a week to recon the engine but held on to my car for three months with me chasing on a daily basis and them refusing to return my calls or emails. When I eventually got the car back it was a wreck.

Reconditioned-engines / The Engine Centre
After reading reviews from many unsatisfied people i can only add my total dissatisfaction with this company who destroy lives for their personal gain. They are a total disgrace to the meaning of honest business. They have traded under many names but their address remains The Engine Center 169 Brent Road, Southall, Middlesex, UB2 5LE Tel: 020 8744 7007 I picked them up through their reconditioned-engines website and was conned into letting them have my car due to the very good quotation they gave me, and the very good professional talking of their salesman. Once thay have your car, they strip it of the engine and then tell you all sorts of other stuff is wrong and the price has gone up 30%. If you refuse to go ahead then you ahve to pay £400-£500 to get your car back in bits. Don't use them!

I was promise 7days for my car to be repair, they have my car since 02/11/2010, I've called countless times for an update on my car and they promise to call me back all the time which they never do. Why didn't I read these reviews before i sent my MG engine to these cowboys!! I was quoted £1286 to get my engine reconditioned which seemed pretty reasonable at the time. A very nice man called Tim asked for the payment up front before they collected the engine and without really thinking about it I paid. They promised it would be returned within 5 days. 5 weeks later I received 2 invoices from them, one for the orginal amount and the second for £470 which they had taken from my Mastercard without my authorization!!! When I spoke to them about this they said that our 12 month warranty would not be valid if I complained to the bank. The engine eventually arrived back at our local garage with a melted internal and external timing belt cover so it was impossible to put the engine back into the car. I managed to purchase this part but that took another 2 weeks. So finally yesterday the engine got put back into the car and guess what...... it doesn't work! Our orginal engine has been swapped for another one that has completely ceased and it actually says 'scrap' on the side of it . We are now £1800 quid out of pocket and our car is still sat in the garage 8 weeks later. What a nightmare!!!

They have ruined my LIFE!
My BMW 120d broke down and I had it towed home as I didn't want to rush into anything. As I do my general research for stuff online, I Google'd ‘engine repair London' and came across these crooks. They sounded so helpful on the phone and offered to collect my car (even though it was 10 miles away) and get it checked out before any repairs were made. I was given a few quotes which sounded ok of the possibilities they could be so I agreed for them to collect car. The persons name who persuaded me into dealing with them and that no costs would incur until I gave a go ahead was Scott on 02087447007. The car was delivered to them and the next day they slammed me with a bill of £2800 which I was no way going to pay so I contacted my insurance and was instructed to remove car from their as it was an unauthorised Aviva dealer. When I arranged for car to be removed they then gave me a £30 a day storage charge from the day it was delivered and also asked for £500 LABOUR CHARGE for stripping engine of which I didn't even ask them to. They had told me my crank shaft had gone and made me believe that was the case! They threatened to have the car moved to another warehouse which is outside London which charges £100 a day and that I needed to pay full amount in CASH or it was to be sent away that SAME DAY! At this point as you can imagine I couldn't believe what was going on and how to go about resolving situation coz it was just getting worse and worse. Speaking to these guys was like speaking to a brick wall coz all they ever do was put the phone down on your face. Especially this guy called PAUL who was supposedly the manager of the place. I contacted trading standards and they suggested I took them to court and I had every right o but I obviously wasn't in a situation to do anything like that because I needed my car back on the road ASAP. I paid the fee and took it to BMW who have told me that now there are pieces missing from the engine, most of it has been physically damaged and they couldn't see no sign of the crank shaft being damaged so it was all a complete lie!! BMW have told me it costs £7500+ VAT for a new engine and I'm left with an £8000 vehicle that now valueless. Its caused me so much problems as I need a car to take my daughter to hospital as she has a heart problem that requires weekly checkups and I also need to travel to work and back. This really has changed my life and these guys are the reason to it. I say this with all passion, that I am willing to take these guys down if it's the last thing I do. So PLEASE, if this has happened to you also lets form a team together and get to the bottom of all this because words can't describe what these guys are and deserve. Do not use this company. They will lie on a price to get your car on site, then they will take four times as long as quoted to complete job. As your car is on site the price will saw through the roof, if you try to back out you will be charged stuped money for the work which they say they have started, an if you come up with the money you will be told to bring a big box as your engine will be in bits.Whilst your car is in repair you will be lied to repeatidlly about what else they have found wrong with your car.( To raise the price!) You will never be able to get through to who you want an you will be promised return calls LIES! After you finally get your car back. IT WILL GO WRONG! An by that time they have your money. An have probablly striped your car of perfectlly good working bits an replaced them with cheap faulty AN STOLEN products! These people think they can keep getting away with ripping people off! But there time will come VERY SOON! Do NOT USE THESE COWBOY CON MEN!

Criminals, Rude, aggressive, sarcastic DO NOT GIVE YOUR CAR to them
We gave our car to Brent south trading, who also call themselves MPH engineering or reconditioned engines! We were quoted £3200 for 4-5 day job, and they wanted payment in advance - we stupidly paid them. After a 2 week wait and numerous calls for an update, Martin the so called general manager said our car is being worked on bla bla all a pack of excuses very unprofessional. After a long 6 weeks we got our car back and and it broke down on the way home - luckily didn't have our kids in the car. AA got car home, we rang Garage back and they said car will be collected and fixed asap! After calling 6-7 times a day – NO ONE ever calls back, a total bunch of liars time and time again call after call. A further 8 weeks and we are still waiting, when we call them every day Martin / Lee say the car is out on a test drive, it will be ready today, call back later, call in ½ hour, the guys are on lunch - LIARS!!!! We have contacted Trading standards and I've drafted a letter which I will be sending to MP of Southall, Trading standards and Watchdog / Rogue Traders and will be contacting the local and national press to name and shame! We recently went to demand that our car is fixed in 2 days or we will take legal action. A middle aged man who refuse to give us his name said if we don't leave premises he will get someone to get physical with us....we had our kids in the car and obviously left immediately!! A total bunch of liars, abusive lot of con artist operating a business and conducting daylight robbery – they will take your money and your car! POLICE DO NOTHING and say it's a civil matter! They will take expensive parts from your car and replace with old ones! We went back last week to collect our car to get it towed and fixed somewhere else and the whole side of the car has been scratched and there is a dent on the left side of the door and the wing mirror is smashed!!!!! I believe in karma, they will get it back 100x as bad, I curse all of them my curse won't be wasted!! Contact me on email@example.com I have some advice from trading standards and what to do next, lets fight together and have them closed down!!

Racists, Liars & Talibaans of UK
They abducted my car and now asking for RANSOM - this is the best description of this bunch of mixed racial crooks. ( I say abducted - because they took the car without sending me the promised e-mail with all charges & conditions etc which they said they were going to do before they pic it up). I never recieved any e-mail as promised for the charges they promised on the phone and now after stripping off the engine, they are asking for more than £600 extra than the original offer of £1857. I have to pay the labour plus storage charges of more than £500 OR they will take me to the court, they say. They are like the TALIBANS and UK government must do something about these LEGAL TALIBANS - the threat to its people from within. Talibans do the same (not all of them probably), they abduct people and ask for ransom and so do the pirates of the coeans. I will do my best to make them relaise that they can't carry on like this. They have passed racial comments about my religion, threatened me and on top of all they will not listen to you, they simply put the phone down on you. I hope we can all (victims) can fight together against them and let the nation see justice being done. I am more than happy to share the legal costs if there are any volunteers out there for the NOBLE cause.

Con Artists - El Supremos
I was contacted by them after I advertised looking for an engine for my VW LT. Seemed very helpful on the phone. That soon ended! After 2 weeks, nothing. Then I was told the block was cracked. I stupidly paid them £700 for a replacement. They have never got it, and not made any attempt to repair my engine. 3 months later I have no engine (they still have the original) and I am almost £1500 out of pocket. Numerous calls to the so called General Manager, Ryan, and even a visit has failed to get anything other than false promises and outr and out lies. If there was ever a bigger bunch of crooks out there I would doubt it. For your own sake AVOID them - at ALL costs.

On internet they appeared as Re-Manufactured Engines with phone no 08454 666 009. They quoted £1285 to fix my Nissan XTrail engine and said it would take 5/6 days to fix it. They picked my vehicle 2 weeks ago and nothing's been done yet. They now aggressive and rude to me to the core, and not answering my calls and hung up on me wheneve I managed to get through. Now I've asked my vehicle to be returned and they're not even doing that and asking me to pay for the work they've never done. I regret every single minute that I didn't check this site before I went ahead with them.
