Widest range of chess sets in the continent of Europe - from £15 to £695
There are chess sets and chess sets, chess pieces and chess pieces. Is money the issue - perhaps a gift for young son or daughter, niece or nephew? Or is this set of chess pieces destined as something that will bring pride of ownership for even more that one generation to come? Economy chess sets are available from many chess set beautiques and even many superstores. ChessBaron is one example of a store in the UK that delivers worldwide. But where this company especially scores is in the provision of a superb range of carefully carved chess pieces, which surely represent the finest available throughout the world.Which woods are the best for such fine chess sets? Two wood types stand out: Ebony and Redwood (also known as Budrose, or Bud Rosewood) in terms of intrinsic value. Then Rosewood and sheesham are also good quality wood to use in the manufacture of chess pieces.http://www.chessbaron.co.uk
December 2012 bought chess board in sale, described as:- B2016 Rosewood Heavy High Quality Chess Board 2 inch Squares Very good quality thick and heavy chess board with superb rounded corners and edges. A traditional look and feel for this excellent quality chess board. Any ChessBaron set would be favoured by this board, but it is also very suitable for mid priced sets. Squares are 2 inches. Luxury protective sleeve included. What has happened to quality these days? Why is everything veneer, hollow, weightless? This board represents quality our Grandparents used to enjoy and expected. It's NOT made in China, is NOT veneer and is NOT mass produced in any automated process. A craftsman has made the product taking time over every feature and has only released it when he's satisfied that his reputation will stay intact. Chess board had 90% cracked lacquer surface top. Asked for replacement but would only refund when returned at my cost, (this board is large and heavy). Reply Email received states the board is a second so damage is expected and replacements would be the same. Where does the description say that? Unsure what to do because of costs/loss. Avoid!
