My 1st child attended First Steps a few years ago, I found it to be fantastic. HOWEVER my daughter attended from sept 2011 until recently when I had to pull her out because of a series of events, that led up to her eventually having her face cut open by another child, with a pair of scissors in a fight, which now has scarred. I am furious with this pre sch who wish to wash their hands of the incident and underplay it. I found whist rated well with Ofsted, the care to be incredibly hit and miss. During my child's time there she frequently came home wet and cold with either wet feet?? Or soaking sleeves. She also had regular accidents/incidents, She had one side of her hair all cut off by a child in 2012 and I wrote in warning of the danger of sharp scissors if not supervised properly and how dangerous this could be! However, unfortunately my complaint was not taken seriously and recently, during a spat with a child over play doe, a child sliced open her face using a pair of blunt ended, but sharp bladed scissors. Her face was glued back together in hospital and 4 months later I am told she has a scar that will need SURGERY to remove. The nursery had an investigation but found 'no one 'responsible as staff ratios were fine. However the staff there were not watching the children when this happened and children were allowed to wonder away from a table taking sharp scissors with them. I took her out for own safety concerned that these children are not well observed at all.
