Too busy for £10,000 order
David Gunton:Too busy to deal with a £10,000 order. Sent this company, by email on Nov 22 2012 at 12.48 pm, an enquiry for 7 cu.m. approx of ash timber which, having described my requirements over the phone, they told me enthusiastically over the phone they could easily supply, had plenty of stock available and promised a price by the following day. The order would have been worth something in the order of £10,000 plus VAT - so not the biggest ever, but not piddling. On my email I offered to pay up-front. No response. Monday 26th. I rang late morning to enquire and was told that 'Dick' was on the phone but would phone me back. He did not. Tuesday 27 th. I rang and spoke to the boss, Mark Dempster, who abruptly informed me that I had a bad credit report and they could not get cover for my enquiry. I pointed out to him that I had never before had a bad credit report and could not understand that, but nonetheless, this was irrelevant since I offered to pay by pro-forma up front so did not require credit. "Oh! I did'nt know that. I'll have a look at that and I'll get back to you." He didn't. Wednesday 28th. at about 12.40 p.m. I rang and spoke to Mark Dempster, to enquire after the results of his 'looking into it'. He responded abruptly that he had been far too busy, that he was snowed under with orders and too busy to look into something as complicated as that. I told him I will get my wood elsewhere.
