With an emphasis on control, (waking nicely on the lead, recalling to owner and not jumping up), plus good manners, teaching is combined with the use of play and the building of an emotional bond between dog and owner.

Having had a series of home visits from Rachel for help with our puppy, we have now joined the classes in Marble Hill Park. We were excited to receive our first certificate and rosette, are enjoying working towards our Bronze, and can thoroughly recommend Rachel and Reality Dog Training.

I heard about Rachel via The Vet in St Margarets. She was really helpful when we got our puppy. Although we'd had a dog before, we had never had a puppy and needed help and guidance with behavioural issues so that our puppy grew to be happy and confident and, above all, obedient. This has led to a contented dog and contented owners.Rachel was very patient with Bertie, and with us, and still is there to answer questions which crop up from time to time. Now Bertie is well behaved and people are always happy to see him - and he is always extremely happy to see Rachel. I would not hesitate to recommend Rachel to anyone - in fact, I'd say she was an essential when starting down the often complexing but always rewarding road of owning a dog.

“Rachel has been a real lifeline since we got our new puppy last November. As first time dog owners Rachel has been there every step of the way to advise us on all aspects of our puppy’s care and development. We initially attended Rachel’s ‘Puppy Parties’ at The Vet in St. Margarets and learnt lots about our new puppy in an informal situation. It was great to be able to share our experiences with other puppy owners. We now attend Rachel’s dog training classes in Marble Hill Park every week and our dog loves going (many of his puppy friends attend too so it’s a fun and supportive session). Rachel has also visited us at home to offer advice on particular behavioural problems. My husband and I have both grown in confidence in our dog ownership and have a happy puppy and have Rachel to thank for this. I highly recommend Rachel as someone who has a real understanding of dogs and tailors her training to the individual needs of the dogs and owners.”

We’d been thinking about getting a dog for quite a while and then ended up getting Cookie slightly spur of the moment when she was 8 weeks old. It was love at first sight although we didn’t know what had hit us at first! We definitely needed some help and were lucky enough to meet Rachel. In a series of one-on-one sessions Rachel taught us how to train Cookie and give her what she needed to make her the happy, well balanced and totally brilliant dog we have now. Rachel’s methods are kind, sensible, easy to understand and apply and they really work. Rachel had a wealth of advice and suggestions for everything we were wondering about: toilet training, routines and using a crate; how to make sure Cookie was happy when left alone, tips on playing and keeping her stimulated – and of course to make sure Cookie comes when she’s called! Cookie is a fantastic dog – sociable, happy, good fun, friendly and well behaved (for a terrier!) and the support and help Rachel gave us was invaluable. We still call on her now for advice and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her.”
