I smelled a rat
When my tenant reported mice in the kitchen I called Rentokil, the only agency who would attend right away. The technician reported seeing mice droppings in the house and also in the shed. He wanted about £100 for traps and poison. He recommended an annual control contract at over £200. I smelled a rat and called the Council's Pest Control Officer. He found no evidence of any pests. I called Rentokil again and the guy admitted he could not be certain of seeing any droppings at all. I think that means he lied to get the business.
