We wanted a new car and tested a few from various garages around the Colchester area. Friends told us not to go to Selectacars but, we thought their problems were theirs and we are the sort of people that like to try for ourselves. We purchased a vehicle from www.selectacars.co.uk in August 2012. A week later it went back to them for a door catch to be fitted inside, That took 4 days to get the car back. The following week it went back as the exhaust back box had fallen off, 2 days later we got our vehicle back with just a straight pipe extension. Glow plugs were the next thing to go and also the injectors, There was 'dirty fuel' and when we had it drained by an independent garage, they told it it was an old problem and not a new one. A part had come loose when the garage fitted the new glow plugs and went into the engine (I'm not a mechanic so don't know if this can happen). This resulted in a re-conditioned engine being fitted. Glow plugs, injectors and engine were fitted by an independent garage. www.selectacars.co.uk have footed ALL the bills up to date. Since the middle of August (when we purchased the vehicle) till the middle of December we were without our purchased vehicle for about 7 weeks. They have carried our final month warranty over as we never had the vehicle for the last month. What we have asked for is an extension of another 3 months on top for the inconvenience. We do have a 6 month warranty with the re-conditioned engine. We are waiting to here back from them about the 3 months. I forget the amount of times we had contacted Selectacars as they never returned our calls when asked or even phoned us with an update. I know they have a business to run and we do feel customer service pays a big part in that. www.selectacars.co.uk have admitted to us face to face that they should never of purchased this vehicle or, sold it to us. When they realised the problem they also said they should of given us a refund right away. This vehicle is on finance and we do understand that the finance company have purchased the vehicle from Selectacars and we have purchased from the finance company. We are in talks with them as well.
