Garden Centres in Oldham
i was bought a cockatiel for my birthday by my husband, he was told by a member of staff the bird was a baby which is what he was looking for. we had the bird for just over a week , eating well, flying around and seemed to settle in well. i was called home from work today to find my bird drifting in and out of concienceness and twitching, but still alive. on taking him to the vet, she was shocked at the emaciated condition of him and stated quite clearly that this was a bird who had been ill for a matter of weeks and should not have been sold in that condition. we then had to pay to have him euthanised. in total we paid £35 for the bird, £27 for a consultation at the vets and £18 to euthanise him, not to mention losing a days pay from work. on going to the garden centre to make them aware of this situation and ask for a refund, the 'manager' firstly asked why we didnt phone the garden centre before contacting the vets, then stood smiling at us, telling us to stop shouting ( we were definately not shouting) and saying there was nothing he could do as the owner was at a funeral. i am currently awaiting a phone call from the supposedly 'trained veteranarian' owner to resolve this matter. Not at all happy with the service
